“Everyone just seemed to be writing love songs - and I wasn’t interested in doing that.” says Zac Lawrence. That may be true for the DEADLETTER frontman, but his mischievous charm hints he’d had no trouble penning one himself.
The vivacious artist has made a name for himself in London’s post-punk scene - not only thanks to the band’s debut album, Hysterical Strength, but also through his own, introspective solo ventures.
Ahead of the band’s anticipated second album, we caught up with him over a fry-up at Billy’s café in Hackney. We talked Louis Theroux, what truly makes a DEADLETTER song, and just how many ways there are to cook an egg - and no, it’s not a hundred.
Zac wears the Magnus coat, the Shelly poplin shirt, Aubyn pleated trousers and the Wilde fluffy knit.
