The reality has set in that autumn is here. Kudos to you, you’ve stretched out the lifespan of your lighter layers for as long as you could - but the inevitable has come. Farewell linen, we’ll see you again soon.
But it’s not all sad news. Autumn ushers in a rich lineup of menswear fabrics with the purpose to keep you warm while looking your best. And this season, we’ve gone the extra mile to introduce fresh, exciting textures to the Wax roster alongside the old reliables you know and love.
Here are some of our favourite standout fabrics for AW25 - and why they deserve a place in your wardrobe.
This is what Autumn is all about. If wool is the season’s go-to fabric, then a wool-mohair blend is the next step up. Mohair brings luxurious softness and elevated comfort, while wool provides all the durability and insulation you need to take on the chilliest days. The result? All the warmth you want without the extra weight. We love this fluffy pairing so much, we’ve knitted it throughout the collection - from every colourway of our Wilde crewneck to the new Hyatt cable knit, the Friar zip-up cardigan, and our refreshed take on the returning Alban cardi. Rupert Bear, eat your heart out.
Another wool essential, and this is one we do best. Just as we’re known for our distinctive fabric choices, our design approach is equally recognisable, especially when it comes to checks. And this season, we’ve ticked every box. From our signature overshirt collection - focusing on the standout Whiting and new Nolan silhouettes - to outerwear favourites like the new Heath jackets and our classic Stan coat, checks in warm Italian wool fabrications take centre stage in a range of placements, scales and colourways.
Just like wool, corduroy is synonymous with the season - and, like so many others, we’re big fans. We’ve got your classic corduroy styles, as seen in our Landmark chore jacket, Aubyn trousers and the Rockey overshirt - but it wouldn’t be a Wax fabric guide without a couple of twists. This season we’re bringing back seersucker corduroy staples in our Shelly shirt, and newly introduced to our Corey shirt silhouette. Seersucker corduroy delivers the warmth and durability you’d expect from classic cord, but with added breathability and a lighter feel - making it the perfect layering piece.
Yes, our much-loved organic cotton t-shirts are back in our Dean and Milton silhouettes - let's get that out of the way first. But this season, the spotlight is on something new: our expanded sweats lineup. Leading the charge is the Rowhill, our take on the rugby shirt, crafted from 100% organic cotton, joined by a range of cosy essentials. The Rydal hoodie, Ska joggers, and Harris zip-up hoodie are all made from a brushed loopback 100% organic cotton that’s as comfortable as it is substantial. We dare you to find anything cosier.
Last autumn, we introduced the Kendal, our first step into the world of leather. This season, we’ve gone all out. Let’s start where it began. The Kendal is back, and it now comes in three colourways: a classic black, a bold cherry red, and a timeless dark brown featuring a removable shearling collar - all created from 100% supple lamb leather. And this season we’re debuting our new leather accessories lineup: the Paton belt, Forbe cardholder, Boston keyring and the Wells washbag. In short, we’ve taken leather to the next level this season - and we think you should too.
Autumn is the perfect season to introduce more texture into your wardrobe - and very few fabrics do it better than waffle. Known for its distinctive, grid-like surface - the appeal of waffle goes beyond aesthetics. Those small squares trap air and add surface area without adding bulk, which means the fabric stays light and breathable while remaining naturally insulating. In short, it’s soft, comfortable and functional - everything you want in a seasonal staple. We’ve woven it into layering essentials like the Halton henley, Milton t-shirt and Hays overshirt, as well as loungewear favourites including the Riley crewneck, Guildford cardigan and Ska joggers.
Durable, insulating, and naturally weather-resistant, boiled wool is a gamechanger for autumn outerwear. Our Eldon jacket - a trusted silhouette in the collection - has been reimagined for the season in a 100% boiled Italian wool construction. We love it so much, we’ve introduced it in three versatile colourways: a classic midnight navy, an essential mid grey and a rich seasonal teal. Each one offers the same reliable weather resistance and long-lasting quality - because a jacket should be built to last far beyond a single season.
The cotton canvas workwear jacket is a tried-and-tested menswear staple - and for good reason too. Canvas is a densely woven cotton, known for its toughness, abrasion resistance and lasting durability. This season, we’ve introduced the Mason jacket: the Wax take on a heritage classic, crafted from a robust peached cotton canvas. And while you might not be tackling any strenuous labour in it, you’ll still benefit from the fabric’s natural weather resistance and ensuring quality. And yes, it’ll make you feel more than capable of putting up that shelf.
