Integrity Explainer

Helping you understand the terms we use.

Designed to Last: We believe in creating clothes that last, both
in style and durability. Our designs are timeless and made from high-quality materials to ensure they stand the test of time. When you invest in a Wax London piece, you’re choosing to reduce the cycle of disposable fashion by opting for a wardrobe staple that’s built to last.

Traceable Materials: Transparency is at the heart of our production process, and we have implemented traceability for the materials we use, so you know exactly where your clothing comes from. From the fibres to the finished garment, we ensure that our sourcing and manufacturing processes are both ethical and environmentally sound.

Recyclable & Biodegradable Fibres: Our fabrics aren’t just luxurious-they’re kind to the Earth too. We try to incorporate recyclable and biodegradable fibres, which means that after a long life of wear, your clothing can be recycled or naturally decompose without harming the environment. By choosing recyclable and biodegradable materials, you’re helping to close the loop on waste.

Renewable fibres & buttons: Are sourced from plants and trees that naturally replenish themselves, reducing our dependence on limited and polluting resources like fossil fuel. At the end of their life, renewable fibres and materials biodegrade, without harming ecosystems. At Wax London, our choice of renewables are cotton, viscose, wool, linen, hemp, and Tagua palm buttons which close the loop on waste.

Recycled: Choosing clothes made from recycled fibres is a win for both your wardrobe and the planet! By giving fibres, a second life, we help reduce waste, conserve water and energy, and cut down on carbon emissions. With the same high-quality feel, these eco-friendly fibres give you the style you love – whilst reducing the environmental impact.

Animal Welfare-Wool: RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) represents our commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare and land stewardship. This certification ensures that the wool we use is sourced responsibly, with care for both the sheep and the environment.

Water Conservation: At Wax London, our manufacturing partners apply water-saving technologies in garment washing and fabric printing processes. These methods are aimed at reducing water consumption, cutting waste, and helping preserve water resources. This ensures that your garment has a smaller environmental footprint.

Low-Impact Production: Our commitment to low-impact production ensures that our clothes are created in a way that minimises environmental harm. We choose production methods that reduce energy consumption, chemical use, and generate less waste, while delivering the high-quality craftsmanship you expect from us.

Responsibly Manufactured: Every piece in our collection is manufactured and crafted with care by our network of manufacturers who share our values of fairness and sustainability by ensuring that workers are treated with dignity, receive fair wages and work in safe conditions.

Social & Environmental Programs: With each purchase, you’re supporting our broader mission of making fashion more responsible. We actively partner with our suppliers and organisations on social and environmental initiatives that benefit communities and restore local ecologies.

Cleaner Leather: Our leather is sourced from an accredited member of the Leather Working Group, which ensures eco-friendly and safe processes are used to reduce harmful chemicals and water usage, lowering environmental and health impacts without compromising on quality or style.

Low CO2 Emissions Transport: We're continuously working to reduce our carbon footprint by selecting transportation methods that use less energy and emit lower CO2 levels. We’ve been increasing sea freight where possible, and all our European and North African production is transported by road, significantly contributing to lower CO2 emissions.

Organic fibres: Organic fibres, such as cotton, wool, hemp, and flax (linen), are grown without the use of toxic pesticides, synthetic fertilisers, or genetic engineering. They are grown under strict organic farming standards, to reduce any negative impact on the environment.

OEKO-TEX STeP: Is a rigorous certification that takes a holistic approach to assessing sustainable production in the textile and leather industries. It evaluates a wide range of criteria, including chemical management, environmental impact, worker safety, and social responsibility. Achieving this certification is complex and challenging but we are seeing more mills starting to work towards Oeko-Tex STeP.

European fabrics: We source a significant portion of our fabrics from Europe to minimise our environmental impact by transporting everything by road to help reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, working with nearby suppliers helps us shorten lead times, ensuring we can quickly bring you the wide range of products you love.
