You may remember that Wax is proudly sponsoring The Latitude 35 Atlantic Rowing Team – a group of four friends sailing from San Sebastian to Antigua in what’s known as the world’s toughest row. We’re excited to share an update on their progress with you.
The Latitude 35 team is over half way through the 3,000 mile journey and after weeks of rowing in incredibly challenging conditions, they’re now in second place out of 35 teams from around the world!
From following their journey on Instagram, we can see that it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for McDonald, Carroll, Hooper, and Mawson. The group have faced heat stroke, 15 foot swells that have threatened to capsize their boat, as well as a broken oar in the last three weeks.
This huge undertaking isn’t just for the thrill of it. The Latitude 35 team are raising money for four worthy charities — the Achilles International, the Brian Cross Memorial Trust, Not Forgotten Association, and the Pelorus Foundation. On Instagram, the team posted: “It’s times like these were we remind ourselves of why we’re doing this, and the important causes close to our hearts.”
Friend of the brand, Todd Hooper, is raising money for brain tumour research and is 97% of the way to his £100,000 target! You can support his fundraising efforts to help get him over the line here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/todd-hooper1
